Bookmarks XV 2017-2018

Bookmarks from the Bookmarks XV project

Bookmarks from the Bookmarks XV project. Artists (from top to bottom) Maria Teresa Cazzaro, Sharon Hall Shipp, Charlotte Hall.

For the past 14 years The Centre for Fine Print Research at UWE Bristol has conducted a free artwork distribution project. It aims to encourage appreciation and awareness of artists working in the book format.

Each year since 2004, a new group of artists creates an edition of 100 signed and numbered bookmarks which are distributed to venues around the world. 2017 marks the final distribution in this project. Each month from September 2017 to February 2018, a batch of bookmarks will be released for people to take and appreciate.

The Fine Arts Library is very pleased to be one of the selected venues; other host venues being in the UK, USA, Germany and Sweden.

A full set of bookmarks will be held permanently in the Fine Arts Library Special Collections’ Artist Books Collection. This Collection contains over 450 works predominantly by Elam staff and students, but also by other New Zealand and international book artists.

For further details on the project and the contributing artists visit the Bookmarks XV website.
