Doctoral Skills Programme workshops

Doctoral Skills Programme

We may be nearing the end of 2016, but there are still plenty of workshops available for doctoral candidates to attend as part of the Doctoral Skills Programme.

Workshops are organised into strands by topic, covering a variety of academic and professional skills:

  • Academic integrity
    Managing references with RefWorks.
  • Academic writing
Getting started, thesis proposals and structure, writing for publication, what examiners expect.
  • Literature reviews
Literature searching, organising and writing, systematic reviews, finding high-impact publications for your research.
  • IT skills
Thesis formatting, LaTeX, big data and high-performance computing, making your research visible nationally and internationally.
  • Presenting your research
Presenting at seminars, events and conferences, presenting with academic posters.
  • Personal and professional development
Promoting your research via social media, writing non-academic CVs, networking skills, taking control of your doctorate.
