Open Access (OA) is an international movement to promote the sharing of scholarly research. It covers material that is digital, online, free of charge, and free of most copyright and licensing restrictions.

Open Access Week, 21-27 October 2019, focusses on “Open for Whom? Equity in Open Knowledge.” Nick Shockey, from the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition, discusses this year’s theme. Wider New Zealand initiatives

Tohatoha Aotearoa Commons have just launched an Open Access campaign to see a New Zealand where the work of our scholars, scientists and researchers is open and available for everyone to read, share, and reuse. They are encouraging support through a call to sign a declaration, available on their website. Read their report Centring Our Values: Open Access for Aotearoa.
