Kia ora Jess, this isn’t quite up and running yet. We’ll update this post and let you know on Facebook when you can start requesting books for click and collect.

Hi, Do we have to return books by the original due date? They were borrowed before the lockdown. Thanks.

    • Libraries and Learning Services commented on 28/04/2020 Reply

Kia ora Sola, please hold on to any books that you currently have on loan. Renew them through My Library Account if you can, but don’t worry – you won’t have to pay any fines caused by the lockdown.

if we have already requested material before the lockdown, will this be made available via click and collect? or will we need to create new requests?

    • Libraries and Learning Services commented on 30/04/2020 Reply

Kia ora Zoe, it’s likely that any requests that you made before lockdown will have expired, so we would recommend making new requests.

Can we return books when coming in to collect?

    • Libraries and Learning Services commented on 30/04/2020 Reply

Kia ora Alison, please don’t return any books that you currently have on loan. And don’t worry – you won’t have to pay any fines caused by the lockdown.

What about those books being recalled? Do we have to return them?

    • Libraries and Learning Services commented on 04/05/2020 Reply

Kia ora ano Janus, you don’t need to return recalled books during Alert Level 3 and you won’t have to pay any fines caused by the lockdown.

How long does it take to retrieve an item once it has been requested?

    • Libraries and Learning Services commented on 08/05/2020 Reply

Kia ora Anthony, your request will usually be available within one working day, but please allow 2-3 working days. We’ve had well over 1000 requests this week, so it might take a little longer than usual while we process all of them.

Are we able to click and collect short loan material? Or is it only available for digitisation? Can we request multiple chapters of a book for digitisation?

    • Libraries and Learning Services commented on 12/05/2020 Reply

Kia ora Maddie, short loan material is only available for digitisation to make sure that everyone who needs it can access it. You can request one chapter or up to 10% of the total book, whichever is larger.

Can we request books if we are still at home during level 2? I’m a UoA student but in the South Island and need a book. It may be an unfair disadvantage if only those in Auckland or living nearby can get those books, while those who travelled home can’t since the disease is contained, but the risk of community transmission remains.

Are we able to get someone to pick up our books from click and collect if we give them our ID card?

  • Nicola commented on 18/05/2020 Reply

Hi there, how am I able to return the books I had borrowed from the library prior to the lockdown? Thanks.

    • Libraries and Learning Services commented on 19/05/2020 Reply

Kia ora Nicola, our return slots are open so you can return books as normal – except for at Tai Tonga or the Philson Library where the return slots are only accessible during opening hours. There’s no rush though, you still won’t get any fines under Alert Level 2.

Can associate members of the library click and collect while the Libraries are closed?

    • Libraries and Learning Services commented on 21/05/2020 Reply

Kia ora Theo, click and collect is currently only for staff and students, but we hope to expand this to associate members as soon as we can.

Would there be any ways at this stage to renew the borrowed books online after having reached the maximum renewal date? Thank you.
