Click and Collect

Our popular Click and Collect service is back, including requesting physical books. All of our libraries and the Tai Tonga Campus are collection points.

Find out how to request a book

Collecting your requests

  • We will email you when your item is ready to collect and confirm your collection point.
  • Please check our opening Hours before arriving, as most locations have limited hours.
  • The General Library collection point is the Library Basement (down the stairs from the main entrance to the library).
  • Bring your Campus Card to collect your request.
  • While on campus, wear a face mask and maintain physical distancing.
  • Register your attendance using the Government’s NZ COVID Tracer app.

Details about borrowing and requesting

  • You can request items from all campuses.
  • You can borrow up to 100 books.
  • No fines will be incurred during this period.
  • Digitisation of parts of books or journal articles can be requested, and this includes short loan items. Find out how to do this.
  • Requests for items already on loan (recalls) are not available.
  • If you need to remain isolated for health reasons, we can courier books to you with the Click and Deliver service.

Interlibrary Loans

  • During Alert Level 3, requests for books from libraries external to the University of Auckland Library system are on hold, due to the physical mail service being unavailable during this lockdown period.
  • Requests for book chapters and journal articles are unaffected and are being received and processed, as they are sent electronically to clients. Find out more about interloans.

Don’t return your books

Please don’t return any books that you currently have on loan. You won’t have to pay any fines caused by the lockdown.

    Hi there,

i would like to borrow the book below”Through the patient’s eyes : understanding and promoting patient-centered care” unfortunately, i have four books overdue and i can not place a request. Please advice. Thanks. Chen (id: 1003983)

Kia ora Chen, thanks for getting in touch. We’ve had a look at your account and I can see that you already have a request in place for “Through the patient’s eyes : understanding and promoting patient-centered care.” It looks like there was an error in our library system which made the request ‘expire’ yesterday, but we have extended the expiry so the book will be available for you to collect from Philson Library until Friday 1 October. Philson Library’s opening hours can be found here, and please let us know if you need us to hold it for longer.

Can I access Kate Edgar without permission? I’m not sure where we are suppose to get permission from!

    • Libraries and Learning Services commented on 19/10/2021 Reply

      Kia ora SK,
Study spaces are available on campus for students whose home environment isn’t conducive to study. If this is the situation you’re in, then you’re welcome to visit one of our study space locations. As there are a limited number of spaces available on a first-come, first-served basis, we suggest arriving earlier in the day to avoid missing out; check our Hours. Please bring your Campus Card with you when you visit.

I have a book that I got out to aid me in my first essay. I got this book before lockdown started, and I’m thinking of returning this book tomorrow (Wednesday 20th October).

Will I still be able to return the book under level 3 restrictions and pay the fine, even though that all fines/latenesses will be waived?

    • Libraries and Learning Services commented on 19/10/2021 Reply

      Kia ora Nick,
There is currently no expectation for you to return books under the current Alert Level 3 restrictions. Please hold onto any items you have on loan for the duration of the lockdown, and we will waive any fines incurred over this period once the books are returned. However, if you would like to return your items, you can do so by using the external after-hours return slot. After-hours return slots are open at the following sites: General Library, Epsom Library and Davis Law Library.
