Books from the Junior Collection

Welcome to the Junior Collection on Level M

After an interim stay on Level 2 in Te Herenga Mātauranga Whānui | General Library, we’re excited to announce that the Junior Collection is now in its final home on Level M.

This material has a curriculum focus to support junior and young adult classroom teaching practice.

The Junior Collection on Level M is made up of a number of discrete areas, and these are the Locations that you will see in the Catalogue. They include:

  • Junior Fiction
  • Junior Non-Fiction
  • Junior Picture Books
  • Sophisticated Picture Books
  • School Journals
  • Young Adult Fiction
  • Junior Oversize (Non-Fiction and Fiction)
  • Pictures (Posters)

How to borrow a Picture (poster)

Given the large format of Pictures, they are not able to be self-issued.

To borrow a Picture remove it from the large plastic sleeve and take it to the Student Hub Help Desk on Level G. The staff will issue the Picture along with a protective Picture Tube to your library account.

Please return the Picture and protective Tube to the Student Hub Help Desk.

Searching tips for finding Junior Collection resources

As well as browsing the Junior Collection books on Level M, a wider range of resources is available to you online and on request from the On-Demand Collection, through searching the Catalogue

  • Use juvenile as a keyword, not junior, e.g., juvenile literature
  • Create keyword searches that combine a collection area with a topic, title or author, e.g., picture books nature
  • Too many results? Once you have a search result, use the Catalogue filters to further narrow your search, e.g., picture books nature refined to Subject: Nature Fiction

Any questions? Please Ask us.

Note: The Māori and Pacific Junior Collections will be moving to Level 1 from 3 April 2024.
